Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Monday Clinic 
WSD has opened a Monday clinic specifically for those who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander with Type 1 and complex Type 2 Diabetes at Mt Druitt Community Health Centre’s Diabetes Clinic.

The Mount Druitt Diabetes Clinic is a partnership between Blacktown Hospital and the Western Sydney Diabetes (WSD) team and helps manage people living with Type 1 and complex Type 2 diabetes in Mount Druitt and Blacktown.

A person with diabetes can meet our friendly team and an Aboriginal Support staff member and referring GPs can join the appointment via telehealth to discuss the management plan.

Aboriginal Chronic Care Nurse Shirley Brown, WSD Endocrine Registrar Ummul Mahfuza and Elder Aunty Rita Wright.
We provide many services including:
  • Diabetes self-management skills;
  • Dietary advice;
  • Foot checks; and
  • Blood glucose monitoring technology to identify trends, such as unrecognised hypoglycaemia (low blood glucose).

When: 9am-12.30pm
