Giving children the ability to grow and cook healthy food will provide them with life skills

Schools have been a focus for Western Sydney Diabetes as it is felt that giving children the ability to grow and cook healthy food will provide them with life skills that will assist them to lead healthy lives and also have a positive effect on their families now and into the future.

A partnership with Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Gardens and local primary schools in Blacktown has allowed the training of teachers and the setting up of kitchen gardens within a local ‘hub’. Further implementation of kitchen gardens will be encouraged through our Alliance partners, Department of Education and Catholic Schools.
